There was a guy (I think) at the top of the cliff. I replaced him with a girl, and added an ominous flock of birds for a more forlorn atmosphere. There is an unsettling psychological phenomenon called 'Call of the Void,' where you feel like jumping into the abyss when you stand above it. If there is any place you would feel it, I'd say this is it.

Other than that, I fixed the contrasts, and cooled down the colors.

Just a crazy good looking river in gold and blue.

I sharpened it a little, that's about it.

64. Yes, I Know It's Not There

’Sunbeam’ - Elephant trunk tornado near Milnesand, New Mexico, USA

So, this photo is titled 'Sunbeam,' and curiously, there's no sunbeam there. That's because I removed it, as you can see on the comparison gizmo below. This is by far the best photo of a tornado that I found floating around, and while I understand that the sunbeam and the little rainbow are the spice which just happened to be in the right place at the right time, the reason I like the photo is the tornado itself, and I feel that the sunbeam takes away from it.

I also darkened the image to emphasize the storm (well, the super-cell), and sharpened it.

Yet another photo where I used the Windows 10 Spotlight version as the starting point, as I think they did a good job of reframing it. I took it a bit further and got rid of the sun. I think it was too close to the edge of the frame, and was actually drawing the eye out of the photo. The level of detail here is pretty amazing, especially the dew on the spider webs in the foreground.

I enhanced that even more by upping the sharpness. Other than that, I did practically nothing here.

62. Batman at the Beach

‘Fog Over a Black Sand Beach’ - Vestrahorn Mountain (‘The Batman Mountain’) & Stokksnes beach, Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland

Couldn't source the photographer. Some wallpaper sites list him as David W Ferguson, but I'm not sure. Anyway, this is the black sand beach in Iceland, with the moody Batman Mountain in the background. There are many similar photos of the subject floating around, but what makes this one special is that mossy mound in the bottom right. It works great as a point of interest, and really draws the eye to it. Also, the sky gives a nice cold contrast.

Nothing much was done to the photo beyond the basics.

61. Fairytale

A magical place. But then, most of the Isle of Skye is.

This image was heavily over-processed. So, of course I processed it some more. The grass was almost monochrome, the sky lost all depth, and the clouds looked almost solid. So I did what I could to bring it back to life, but the sky I thought was beyond saving. So I replaced it with something I found appropriate, and I like the purple-yellow-green combo.

60. Rocks, But Giant Ones This Time

This is one of the photos I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The forest really gives a sense of scale to the cliffs. Anf if you look carefully, there are some tiny houses deep in the background.

Only basic adjustments here.
